A major player in the global lottery industry, Scientific Games, has expanded its reach with the purchase of Camelot Lottery Solutions Group, the operator of the Illinois Lottery. This acquisition holds significant weight as Illinois boasts one of the most substantial lottery markets in the United States.

Beyond Illinois, Camelot collaborates with the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery and extends its technological and service expertise to lotteries throughout North America and Europe. Rest assured, major shifts in management are not anticipated.

Camelot’s CEO, Wayne Pickup, underscored their dedication to their existing clientele and amplifying lottery proceeds, ultimately enriching the communities they impact. He appears quite enthusiastic about the potential this merger unlocks, especially for the state of Illinois.

Upon its anticipated early 2023 purchase by Allwyn, Camelot LS Group will transition into a wholly-owned subsidiary, contingent upon standard closing requirements.

“The United States market represents a fundamental pillar in Allwyn’s expansion strategy, and acquiring Camelot LS Group signifies a stride towards that objective,” stated Robert Chvátal, Allwyn’s Chief Executive Officer.

He stressed Allwyn’s commitment to elevating the lottery experience through innovation, technological advancements, and a focus on efficiency and safety. The ultimate aim is to foster player participation and boost contributions to charitable endeavors. Both Allwyn and Camelot possess a shared enthusiasm for the lottery sector, dedicated to providing customer value and strengthening the beneficial influence lotteries have on society.

This development follows Allwyn’s notable triumph in March 2022, securing the operation of the UK National Lottery, a role Camelot held for the preceding 28 years.
