The entertainment giant Caesars and real estate powerhouse SL Green have joined forces to bring a cutting-edge gaming destination to the center of Times Square. Their grand vision aims to convert 1515 Broadway into a spectacular entertainment complex, offering not only a premier gambling venue but also a substantial infusion of billions in tax dollars to the city’s treasury.
In an effort to rally support for their endeavor, Caesars and SL Green are underscoring the numerous advantages it would bring to New York City, stressing its positive societal and financial implications. They’ve vowed to collaborate closely with Mayor Eric Adams and the NYPD to guarantee the safety and protection of the district, promising significant enhancements in security protocols and traffic management. They’ve even enlisted the support of former NYPD Commissioner William Bratton, who views this project as crucial to maintaining Times Square’s safety and vitality for the foreseeable future.
Although specifics about the casino remain closely guarded, Caesars has disclosed an especially enticing detail: the establishment will boast a dedicated Broadway theater specifically crafted for a revival of the legendary musical production, The Lion King.
The head of Caesars, Tom Reeg, shared his organization’s enthusiasm for collaborating with SL Green on this top-tier endeavor. He’s confident it will surpass the hopes of both residents and tourists, cementing the city’s position as an international entertainment destination.
Marc Holliday, CEO of SL Green, pointed to the benefit of their suggested redevelopment plan. He stressed that, upon receiving the green light, it would allow for a quicker rollout than ventures necessitating building from scratch. Holliday posits this method will also lessen disturbances to the neighboring area.
