The Australian gaming behemoth, Crown Resorts, is contemplating a vaccine mandate for its entire workforce. The West Australian reports that Chief Executive Steve McCann is currently engaged in discussions with personnel and government representatives to finalize the specifics of this initiative, which would encompass Crown’s establishments in Perth, Sydney, and Melbourne.
“Every individual employed at or frequenting one of our resorts will be required to be immunized,” McCann reportedly stated. He conceded that obstacles would need to be addressed and emphasized the critical role of decisive leadership in this circumstance. He underscored the catastrophic toll the pandemic has taken on the hospitality sector, observing that it is typically the first to close and the last to resume operations.
McCann commended the Western Australian government’s management of the health crisis, which has permitted Crown Perth to maintain operations while its counterpart venues in Melbourne and Sydney have experienced shutdowns. He stressed the company’s dedication to providing a secure setting for all.
Although a definitive implementation date for this policy has not been established, McCann disclosed that Crown will provide paid leave for staff to receive vaccinations and recuperate from any potential adverse reactions. He also alluded to incentives such as gift certificates for personnel who have already been inoculated. McCann recognized the apprehension and job insecurity felt by many employees during these uncertain times.
The world of hotels and restaurants is always full of surprises. You need a really good leader to handle it all.”
“Just imagine: now you might have customers use their phones to show proof of vaccination before they can even come inside. That’s just one thing we have to deal with these days.”
