The United Kingdom Gambling Commission (UKGC) imposed a £100,000 penalty on Broadway Gaming Ltd., an internet gaming firm licensed in Malta, for omitting crucial terms and conditions in promotional offers across five of its gambling platforms. This is not Broadway Gaming’s initial encounter with regulatory bodies. In June 2016, the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) censured the company for a deceptive advertisement on its Butlers Bingo website. The promotion, which proclaimed “Deposit £10, Receive £35 bonus,” was deemed misleading for concealing significant terms and conditions, thus breaching advertising regulations. The ASA prohibited the advertisement in its existing format.
Nevertheless, the UKGC inquiry revealed that this was not an isolated occurrence. Comparable infractions were discovered on Broadway Gaming’s other websites, including Bingo Diamond, Casino of Dreams, Dotty Bingo, and Rehab Bingo. This underscores a trend of failing to be transparent with users regarding the regulations governing their bonuses and promotional activities.
A UK gaming platform, Broadway Gambling, received a £100,000 sanction for violating responsible marketing regulations. The UK Gambling Commission determined that Broadway’s promotional materials failed to transparently present significant limitations and conditions, a serious breach of advertising guidelines.
In addition to the financial penalty, which encompasses covering the inquiry expenses, Broadway is obligated to issue a public acknowledgment of their transgression on their website. This action serves as a cautionary message to other internet gaming operators – adhere to the established regulations, or confront the repercussions.
