The Philippines-based gaming enterprise, Bloomberry Resorts, experienced a dramatic 89% surge in gross gaming revenue (GGR) for the third quarter of 2022, hitting PHP13.4 billion (US$230 million) compared to the previous year.
The corporation, proprietor of Solaire Resort & Casino in the Philippines and Jeju Sun Hotel & Casino in South Korea, witnessed substantial expansion across all its gaming divisions. Solaire’s high-roller section generated PHP13.28 billion, mass gaming tables contributed PHP1.06 billion, and slot machines yielded PHP8.51 billion, signifying respective year-over-year jumps of 23%, 77%, and 118%.
Bloomberry connected the remarkable performance to strong local demand, propelled by the relaxation of COVID-19 measures within the Philippines and throughout Asia. This resulted in a travel upswing and reduced constraints on mobility. The firm holds a positive outlook, with Chairman and CEO Enrique K. Razon Jr. remarking that the figures indicate gaming activity is nearing pre-pandemic levels.
Weve witnessed sustained expansion this period, propelling our national consumer gaming sector to rebound to more than 95% of pre-COVID figures for the initial three quarters. This truly highlights the strength of local expenditures. Our high-roller section is also displaying indications of a progressive resurgence as global travel continues to increase.
“While we’re concentrating on Solaire’s revival here in the Entertainment City district, we’re also achieving steady headway on our second integrated destination in Manila, Solaire Resort North. We completed the project’s primary edifice back in July of the previous year, and we remain on schedule for its inauguration in the final quarter of 2024. We are confident that Solaire Resort North will allow us to fully leverage the expanding domestic gaming market and solidify our dominant position.”
