The Green Mountain State has just joined the ranks of states permitting sports wagering! Governor Phil Scott has put his signature on a piece of legislation, officially making it legal.
This act, known as House Bill 127, was approved by the state’s lower and upper houses earlier this year. Governor Scott, who has been advocating for legal sports betting for some time, finally signed it into law last week.
He expressed his satisfaction with the legislature’s final approval, stating that many Vermonters already engage in sports betting. Legalizing it will generate revenue and safeguard those who participate.
Vermont is joining a growing number of states that have already taken this step. The governor expressed gratitude to those who contributed to the bill’s passage, acknowledging it was a collaborative effort.
The new regulation will come into effect next year.
