The Genius Sports Group has entered into a partnership with the Argentine Football Association (AFA), the governing body of soccer in Argentina, to be the exclusive real-time data and integrity collaborator.
Genius Sports will have the sole rights to gather official real-time match data from 13 competitions organized by the AFA, including the Argentine professional soccer league and the second division.
Genius Sports will also be able to distribute this data (collected in stadiums) to sports wagering operators worldwide.
The agreement will also see Genius Sports utilize its betting monitoring system to oversee potential match-fixing and betting-related corruption in AFA matches.
“Establishing an official data and statistics system for our competitions to increase revenue and expand our global audience is a key priority,” stated AFA President Claudio Tapia.
“It is equally crucial to find a partner who can provide vital protection against any betting-related threats, so that Argentine soccer fans can enjoy fair, transparent, and unpredictable matches.”
Jack Davidson, Chief Commercial Officer of Genius Sports, added: “Argentine soccer receives a fair and transparent return from betting on its matches and gains a platform to expand its global reach.”
In the meantime, our sports wagering collaborators will receive more top-notch content from some of the most competitive leagues in global soccer.
This agreement follows Genius’s expansion of its non-exclusive betting data partnership to the National Basketball Association in North America last month.
Genius will also go public on the New York Stock Exchange through a reverse merger with special purpose acquisition company dMY Technology Group. This will establish a new publicly traded company with an enterprise value of $1.5 billion (£1.15 billion/€1.27 billion).
